The company was founded by Pasquale Rotella and has been based in Los Angeles since it was formed in 1993.THE ROLEInsomniac Events is seeking a Software Engineer with experience managing projects and leading development teams, with front & backend WordPress experience, and is comfortable interacting with stakeholders and third party software vendors. Having the ability to develop customized strategies and adapt to each individual project is paramount to this position's success.This role will deliver on-time, quality-driven code releases, strategize and manage multiple development projects, and provide direction on software design and the software development process. You would be responsible for writing clean, secure, reusable code while working closely with our internal team and offshore development team. This position is located in Calabasas, CA with a hybrid work from home and in office schedule. This is not a fully remote position.RESPONSIBILITIES* Partner with Product, Design, and Marketing to build and maintain new features to achieve roadmap goals* Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes* Partner with offshore development team to build innovative new features that operate at scale* Support debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stackQUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or 7+ years of equivalent work experience* Demonstrated fluency in Node.js (Bonus points for Go, Python, Solidity, and other languages)* Experience w/ AWS (S3, EC2, Route 53, Elastic Beanstalk, etc.)* Must have web server knowledge and applied understanding (SSL certificates / DNS / email setup)* Git workflow (branching, merging, tagging, cherry picking)* Understanding of RESTful services and how to interact with them* Experienced with agile software and product development* Best practices for performance, security, and code maintenance* Monitoring tools such as New Relic, Loggly, Librato, Cloudwatch, PIngdom, etc.* HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript best practices* Database design concepts and use of SQL* UNIX internals and shell scripting* Full range of technology layers from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems* Software engineering practices and the software development lifecycle* Effective verbal and written communication skills with a diverse populationWORK ENVIRONMENT* Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels & busy environments* Must be willing to travel to work during evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlinesApplicants for employment in the U.S. must possess work authorization, which does not require sponsorship by Insomniac for a visa.EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYInsomniac strongly supports equal employment opportunity for all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law.HIRING PRACTICESThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
